Phosphatidyl Serine: Thinking Nutrition

Phospholipids are rapidly becoming recognized as some of the more crucial nutritional supplements missing from our diets. Research is confirming the health benefits of a phospholipid derived from lecithin, which is called Phosphatidyl Serine or PS. PS has been found to play a crucial role in the maintenance of good health and disease prevention.

Phospholipids are the foundation of all cell membranes and are the essential building blocks of life. PS is a naturally occurring phospholipid found within the membrane of every cell. It is most concentrated in the brain, where it regulates the function of trillions of cells, including chemical and impulse transmission. PS is the most extensively researched bran cell nutrient and has been shown to maintain and even improve cognitive functioning. Specifically, research has shown improvements in name and face recognition, sustained concentration, improved learning ability and information recall - including locations and misplaced objects.

With the average age of the population rising, the importance of PS and its ability to enhance cognitive function is being increasingly recognized. When PS is combined with adequate exercise, a healthy diet and proper supplements, many of us can live healthier, happier and more productive lives.
